Agyness Deyn, whose film debut premiered Friday night at the Bowery Hotel, had butterflies in her stomach—never mind that Mean to Me, a short written and directed by artist Peter McGough, has the Manchester-born model playing a steely 1930’s femme fatale. “I’m so nervous!” Deyn fretted before the screening.
McGough’s 12-minute film noir is drenched in period glamour, with gorgeous sets and a wardrobe by Zac Posen. (In keeping with the fashionable theme, Guerlain and Mikimoto co-sponsored the event.) Still, it’s a major job shift for Deyn, who’s now skipping along the same path that Lauren Bacall, Audrey Hepburn, and Charlize Theron took from model to movie star—not so much A to B, perhaps, as A to Z. “For me, acting is the opposite,” Deyn explained. “With modeling, I don’t think you’re allowed to feel vulnerable. When I’m acting, I’m risking, I’m in touch with all these emotions. I feel like I have to be in a really vulnerable place.”
Not that that’s a problem for Deyn, who’s eager to peel off the Posen dresses and thick makeup for her next role, which she said she wants to be “something really gritty, intense—a bit of a tortured-soul kind of thing.” Hear that, Lars von Trier?

From the Runway: Hot Trends for Fall 2010
Remember when you made your 2010 trend predictions? Well, now that New York's Fashion Week has concluded, let's see how your predictions matched up with the runway trends for the fall 2010 season! Here are some common trends we saw on the runway illustrated by your sets:
Seen on the runways of Donna Karan, Alexander Wang and Cynthia Steffe, socks are making their way into your wardrobe as a fall staple.
Ralph Lauren and Thakoon were some of the designers to include the plush richness of velvet in their collection. Get ready for velvet pants, jackets and vests.
It looks like this spring trend will be sticking it out through the fall. Christian Siriano and Mackage's collections included ruffled shirts and dresses.
Mix and match your florals, plaids, stripes and other fun prints this fall. Diane von Furstenburg, Carolina Herrera and Custo Barcelona are huge supporters of this trend.
The rough and tough but chic appeal of leather will return in a major way this fall as seen on Isaac Mizrahi's runway. Leather bombers, corsets, and dresses will bring out the rebel in you, once again.

1987, 1988, 1989 Fashion Trends
One popular look for men in the late 1980s was Hawaiian shirts. Often they would be complemented with sport coats with stitched looks. They were often gray and white, and were worn for both casual and business settings. When worn in the business setting, they were often worn without a tie.
Leather jackets popularized by Michael Jackson and films like The Lost Boys were often studded and left undone to create a messier look. Oversized, slouch shouldered faded leather jackets with puffy sleeves from Europe caught on.
Gloves, sometimes fingerless, were fairly common.

Style Council: Anna Introduces You to Aerial Fabric Read
For the Style Council photo shoot, I brought in a special item: a length of my red fabric. I practice aerial fabric, a form of aerial circus art, so the fabric is used when I perform.
For those of you who aren't familiar with the art form, it involves climbing up the rigged fabric and then performing tricks. It's essentially a dance in the air, but I also see it as a way to explore the movement of the body in a very unique way. It's also a fun way to defeat gravity, if only for a moment, since many of the drops and tricks I do use gravity to propel me downwards (safely, of course!).
I've been practicing fabric for seven years, so it is very much a part of me. Even my style has been influenced by what I wear when practicing fabric; I tend to incorporate spandex, tights, leotards, and even colorful legwarmers into my everyday outfits!
So, what influences your style? Sound off in the comments!

Purple was the trend for the 2010 Golden Globes!
It seems that this year there is a new color in town when it comes to red carpet gowns! From deep to lilac, stars were showing up on the red carpet this past Sunday in all shades of purple. More recently purple has been seen on many runways and is becoming a growing popular color in the fashion world.
Winner for Best Actress, Sandra Bullock showed up in a bright violet Bottega Veneta gown that had a sexy sheer skirt on the bottom. Rose Byrne wore a silk dark purple Lanvin gown. Chloe Sevingy. Best Supporting Actress winer Chloe Sevigny chose to wear a strapless lilac Valentino gown with gorgeous ruffles. Leona Lewis picked a beautiful purple Roberto Cavalli dress to walk down the red carpet in. Nine starlet Fergie looked amazing in her light purple Elie Saab gown. And 30 Rock start Jane Krakowski chose to wear a striking dark purple silk one-shoulder J. Mendel gown.
Such stunning gowns! Which one is your favorite?!
Pam Anderson wears classy YSL “Tribute” pumps to ghetto promotional event
The last time we saw Pam Anderson, she was wearing this. Suffice to say, I’m glad to see she’s classed it up a notch:
Pammy makes love to the camera in front of the 99 cent bin
I will point out, however, this is what she wore to a promotional event for her new fragrance – which was held at a Rite-Aid. Yeah, Rite-Aid. So I suppose it’s one step forward two steps back for this girl.
Either way, Pammy always manages to throw on a pair of sweet shoes – even if her clothing choices often leave something to be desired. Pam wore a pair of the original Yves Saint Laurent “Tribute” pumps in patent leather. Never has a super-high stiletto heel on a former playmate and amateur porn star looked so classy!
The famous “Tribute” comes in a variety of styles, from Pam’s mary jane to Beyonce’s t-strap sandals. Many boutiques have sold out of this shoe, but Promiscuous makes a great (and affordable) substitute for the “Tribute” cross strap pumps:
The Promiscuous “Cherish” is available through Shoehunting right now! What do you think of Pam’s YSL “Tributes”?

See Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas, Lady GaGa & More Red Carpet Royalty At The Grammys!
No disrespect to the boys, but the 2010 Grammy Awards really could've been renamed "Ladies' Night" given the majority of the event's biggest nominees, winners, and knock-your-socks-off performances. Taylor Swift took home the night's most coveted honor (surprise, surprise), but fellow musical leading ladies Beyonce, Carrie Underwood, and Fergie (along with the rest of BEP, of course) held their own onstage and on the red carpet! Lady GaGa defied gravity in a sparkly orbit dress complete with bedazzled Nina Ricci platforms, and Beyonce (now the most Grammy-decorated female ever!), seems to have taken over JLo's daring fashion role with her down-to-there necklines. Take a look at the slideshow for the rest of the show-stopping arrival looks!

10 Things Guys Just Don’t Get About Fashion
Ever spend hours shopping, planning and primping your fabulously fashionable outfit only for your guy to look at the finished product with total indifference?
It’s no secret that men and women have very different perspectives on fashion. While we fret over matching, monotones, layering and styling, men have a much more lax approach to what they wear and how they wear it. We often justify our crazed fashion obsessions by arguing that we want to look good for our significant others. But in reality, he might be looking at your perfectly-pieced-together outfit and thinking that you look….weird.
Glamour Magazine recently asked a group of men for their opinions on popular fashion trends that women often wear, and their answers may have you rethinking what you wear on your next date.
Here is a list of 10 things that guys just don’t get about fashion, accompanied by a man’s opinion courtesy of Glamour:
1.) High-waist jeans
“I’m not a fan of the high-waist jeans some girls wear—it reminds me too much of my old elementary-school teachers.”
—Mike, 29
2.) Really high heels
“Call me crazy, but if a gal looks like she’s really uncomfortable in the shoes she’s wearing, it makes me uncomfortable—I don’t care how hot the shoes are. I’m not saying you should rock New Balances instead, but if you can’t wear those heels without grimacing every step, maybe save them for seated events.”
—Alex, 28
3.) Harem pants
“I think that the weirdest women’s fashion choice has been those weird dumpy pants that make it look like girls have poops in their pants. I don’t want to talk to anybody wearing those pants.”
—Peter, 30
4.) Hippie headbands
“Hipster girls have started wearing what look like belts on their heads. It’s cute in a pathetic way because it looks like they got confused while they were getting dressed.”
—Robby, 30
5.) Cool hats
“If ladies are wondering whether they should wear that new hat they picked up on a whim at Urban Outfitters—you know, the fedora or the Newsies-style hat or even the trucker hat—the answer is always the same: dear God, no.”
—Mike, 32

6.) Pantsuits
“When a woman wears a men’s-style button-down shirt, it’s super sexy; when she also wears slacks, a tie and a vest or blazer, it’s super manly—and not in the good Diane Keaton in “Annie Hall” sort of way.”
—Ian, 26
7.) Bodysuits
“There’s nothing less sexy than getting to third base and realizing that your girl is wearing what is essentially a one-piece swimsuit.”
—Ryan, 27
8.) Embellished bags
“One sweeping fashion trend that boggles the male mind is the case of the Gigantica-Godzillaca-Bedazzlement-Titanic-Tote Handbag complete with metal rings, chunky chain handles, leather loops, vertical zippers and who knows what. Girls can pack a guest room in there. Honestly, they look like Andie Walsh from “Pretty in Pink” stitched them at home after a bottle of chardonnay.”
—Rick, 30
9.) Furry boots (in summer)
“I can’t help but laugh when I see urban women sporting those super-furry Ugg boots. Sweetheart, you’re not competing in the Iditarod or about to plant a flag on Everest. Your run to get a blueberry smoothie and a manicure doesn’t require extreme survival gear.”
—Dave, 24
10.) Fancy swimwear
“What’s with wearing fancy shoes, jewelry and makeup when you’re just hanging out at the pool?”

Celeb Style: Lo Bosworth
It's been a while since we've gotten a visit from The Hills cutie Lo Bosworth. She was spotted at LA's Guys and Dolls Lounge sporting an ensemble that's part cool girl, part sassy sailor. Those high-waist sailor shorts are sexy, while her nude bomber jacket injects mild color and tough attitude. A Chanel bag adds ultimate class.

Madonna Cleans Up In The New D&G Ad!

She may have been dismissed from Louis Vuitton, but Madonna didn't waste any time getting another high-fashion gig. This time she's playing a sexy Italian housewife in a Dolce & GabbanaLimeLife for a slideshow of Madonna through the years! ad campaign. I have a feeling Madonna doesn't generally participate in any of the activities she's seen doing in her new ads. For instance, washing dishes? Peeling onions? Even eating pasta. Something tells me Madonna just doesn't do a whole lot of household chores. Nor does she eat a lot of carbs. But she sure looks good doing all these things in the ads! In fact, I would say the 51-year-old looks younger and prettier than ever! And she certainly has the perfect cleavage! The ads are for the Spring/Summer 2010 campaign and were photographed by Steven Klein. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have said, "to have Madonna in our campaign is a dream come true." Do you think she'll help the brand sell? Check back with our friends at
